The Chamber Movement, as a voluntary association of businessmen and women did not grow in any significant manner until recently. Today, the number in the country has grown to about fifty. Of this number, thirty-eight are affiliate members of the Nigeria Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry,Mines and Agriculture {NACCIMA} while some of the others enjoy only an observer status within the NACCIMA family platform.

The NACCIMA, established in 1960, is the umbrella organisation for all the various affiliate members within the country. The Association's membership is voluntary. It champions the course of business through advocacy role and influencing of public policy formulation. It is the platform for consultation and joint action by all the existing Chambers of Commerce in the country.
