A View of Participants at the Just Concluded Smartcard Expo 2003Good memories they say lingers. Without doubt, the memories of participants at the just concluded Smart Card Expo 2003 which lasted for 2 days between Wednesday 16th and Thursday 17th July 2003 at the Lagoon Restaurant, along Ozumba Mbadiwe, Victoria Island, Lagos, will last a while. This annual event is made possible by Intermarc Consulting Limited, an Integrated Management Consulting Company with emphasis on electronic business, alliance and Financial IT. Intermarc Consulting, a company that is fast becoming the torch bearer in the card industry scaled all huddles, the recent gripping national strike inclusive, to host the IT industry experts especially those in the financial milieu on card technology.

This year's international expo is the 3rd in the series on Smartcard technology and it was aptly themed “Beyond E-Purse: Migrating from Strategy to Action”. The event showcased the multi application capabilities of Smartcards and how to leverage on Exhibitor Stands at The Expothe other uses and applications as a way of promoting the culture of e-payment in Nigeria. There was also exhibition stands available where companies like banks, electronic payment applications, card security applications, POS Terminals among other products were on display.

The various speakers, drawn from around the globe presented papers that gave participants insight into the development, security, trends, and lessons learnt from the successful use of card technologies in their countries. This year, the Expo had over 90 participants with over 14 stands on display.

Intermarc Consulting believes that with constant forums and conferences where experts in the industry can rub minds on card technology, the Nigerian business terrain will soon be completely card-based, as it ensures faster business transactions and better security.
